Abstract
The Center for Law, Health & Society hosts Daphne Green and Iris Feinberg, with the Adult Literacy Research Center at Georgia State University's College of Education and Human Development on Tuesday, January 2017.
Green and Feinberg will discuss the important role that literacy plays in developing and maintaining healthy communities. Health Literacy refers to how people get, understand, and use health information, and has been linked to knowledge, behaviors and outcomes. It also refers to how health and health-related information is given by medical professionals, health educators, and others who engage in helping people understand the complex challenges of the medical system.
They will share how there is often a significant mismatch between the two and how lawyers can learn to identify and address issues of health literacy.
