Abstract
From 3:30-4:30pm, join the College of Law's Clinical Faculty to discuss how client trauma can impact representation. Hear from our practitioners about how they approach representation so as to avoid or minimize re-traumatizing clients and still accurately and adequately help them tell their stories to reach the desired legal remedy. The session will include concrete tips that can help prepare you to work with clients who have experienced trauma.
From 4:30pm to 5:00pm, stick around for a coffee break with practitioners and GSU public interest students.
Cap off the afternoon from 5:00pm-6:00pm with a session on Secondary Trauma, also known as vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue. This session will focus on how to identify and address the personal impact of working with clients who have experienced trauma. GSU Clinical Faculty will provide specific examples of what to look for and tips about how to cope with secondary trauma to limit its personal and professional toll.
