Abstract
The Act requires each local school system to conduct an annual fitness assessment program of students in elementary and secondary school during a course taught by a certified physical education teacher in which the student is enrolled. Each local school system must report the individual results of each fitness assessment to the parent or guardian of each student assessed and the aggregate results of the fitness assessments by school to the State Board of Education. The State Board of Education shall adopt standards with which to assess the student health and physical education and shall submit an annual report to the Governor. The Governor may, in coordination with the State Board of Education, establish one or more recognition programs to acknowledge local school systems and schools that have most improved in their physical fitness assessments.
